The Volcano is located in the north part of the Island, near Richmond beach.  The trail starts at the beach, winding it’s way to the top of the volcano.  You can even wander inside the crater if you want to!

The hike begins with a walk on the beach, until you get to the “entrance” of the walking trail of the Volcano.  The hike takes about 3 – 4 hours to get the top of the Volcano and another 3 – 4 hours to get back down.  On the way to the Volcano you will be able to have wonderful and scenic views full of green colors and the sea as the background. On your way to the top, there are rest areas with signs identifying and describing the local flora and fauna in the area.

By the time you get to the top you will be able to feel the heat of the earth though your feet as you see the magnificent crater in the middle of the volcano. If you would like – there is the possibility to go inside the crater where you can feel the “earth in action” as you can feel the warm environment.

The hike is wonderful and breathtaking because of the landscapes, the views and the feeling of being in the center of the action.

Watch this video to get a good feel for what the hike is like.
